The short version

We don’t ask you to create an account, and we don’t sell personal information.

VINs you enter

When you decode a VIN, your browser sends it directly to NHTSA’s public databases to fetch the results. A VIN identifies a vehicle, not a person, and we don’t store the VINs you look up on our servers.

Basic analytics and hosting

Our site is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes standard technical information such as IP addresses to deliver pages and protect against abuse. We may use privacy-friendly analytics to count visits and see which pages are useful.

Advertising

If we show ads in the future, advertising partners such as Google may use cookies to show ads based on your visits to this and other sites. You’ll be able to opt out of personalised advertising through your ad settings, and we’ll update this policy before any ads go live.

Third-party sites

Our pages link to external sites such as nhtsa.gov. Their privacy policies apply when you visit them.
